Market Changes Ahead for Chinese Solar Panel Manufacturers – 5 Sept 2018
Donald Trump is increasing the tariffs on anything imported from both the EU and China which will make Chinese manufactured solar panels and control gear less viable in the United States.
The recent restriction of the EU importing less expensive Chinese solar products has been lifted this week and will open up a whole new market for Chinese manufacturers.
I’m not sure that there are any level playing fields anywhere in the world but the duties, tariffs, whatever you want to call them, (they are a just tax by any other name) being removed will make solar panels more affordable in Europe.
Having one large market now more difficult to access, that is, the United States solar panel market, which has increased by about 60% every year since about 2006, will possibly now be replaced by the European market so maybe there won’t be any big changes.
One of the big differences now is that solar panels are now much less expensive and much more efficient. Where I am in Australia, solar panels are now 1/5 of the price that they were 20 years ago and have increased in efficiency by 30 to 40% in that same time period.
America increases tariffs on imported Chinese goods including solar panels which will restrict the viability of Chinese panels being sold in the good old US of A.
This is happening at exactly the same time that the EU has removed restrictions which will now allow Chinese solar panels access to the European consumers.
So with regard to the price of panels to the rest of the world, whilst there will be
some adjustments, the economies of scale are still there so it will probably be
business as usual especially in the short term before another game changer is
permitted to enter the market >>LEARN MORE >>>
Will the price of Chinese solar panels change?
I would think probably not because the economies of scale will still be there.
